{"id":585390,"date":"2023-04-11T08:50:17","date_gmt":"2023-04-11T12:50:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kff.org\/?page_id=585390"},"modified":"2025-09-04T11:42:44","modified_gmt":"2025-09-04T15:42:44","slug":"about-us","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.kff.org\/about-us\/","title":{"rendered":"About Us"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 class=\"wp-block-post-title\">About Us<\/h1>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-content-justification-left is-layout-constrained wp-container-core-group-is-layout-1 wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-kff-is-the-leading-health-policy-organization-in-the-u-s\"><strong>KFF is the leading health policy organization in the U.S.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a one-of-a-kind information organization, we bring together substantial capabilities in policy research, polling, and journalism in one organization to meet the need for a trusted, independent source of information on national health issues\u2014one with the scope and reach to be a counterweight to health care\u2019s vested interests and a voice for people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are headquartered in San Francisco with a building in Washington, DC, <a href=\"\/about-us\/conference-centers\/\">conference centers<\/a> in both offices, and staff members in almost every state. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kff.org\/from-drew-altman\/\">Dr. Drew Altman<\/a>, KFF\u2019s president and chief executive officer, founded the modern-day organization in 1991. You can read more about the organization\u2019s history, mission, focus, and key programs in a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kff.org\/about-us\/presidents-message\/\">president\u2019s message<\/a>&nbsp;by Dr. Altman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">KFF is governed by a&nbsp;<a href=\"\/about-us\/board-of-trustees\/\">Board of Trustees<\/a>, which is chaired by former Senator Olympia Snowe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are supported by an endowment that is supplemented by external funds primarily from foundations, which support KFF to undertake major additional projects we could not undertake with our operating budget. &nbsp;Virtually all our work is conducted in-house by our policy research staff, pollsters and survey researchers, and our journalists.
